The Spanish-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, as part of the European Chambers of Commerce in Spain, is pleased to announce its next institutional lunch dedicated to European Energy and Geopolitics.
Guest speaker José Manuel Durão Barroso will share his vision on current energy challenges and their impact on the European geopolitical context. This will be an excellent opportunity to exchange perspectives, strengthen ties, and continue promoting European business relations.

Academic Director of the Bachelor in Design and the Bachelor in Design & Business at IE University’s School of Architecture and Design. Specialist in strategic and service design.
With over 20 years of international experience, she has worked as a designer across finance, retail, healthcare, social innovation, and startups, collaborating with organizations including J.P. Morgan, ING, Mango, adidas, Nesta, the NHS, and Transport for London. She holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology from New York University and an MA in Service Design from University of the Arts London, where she is currently pursuing a PhD exploring how contemporary kinship studies can inform more relational service systems.
Gianluca Pugliese
Adjunct Professor, IE University’s School of Architecture and Design, Director and founder LOWPOLY
After a decade in aeronautics, Pugliese moved into digital manufacturing and 3D printing, joining the board of Italy’s first Fablab and later opening WASP’s first international store in Madrid. In 2018, he founded LOWPOLY, a company focused on sustainable design that transforms industrial waste into new products through additive manufacturing, working with international brands. He has consulted for UNESCO Mexico and CosmoCaixa Barcelona, co-authored Advanced 3D Printing with Grasshopper (2020), and was appointed Italian Ambassador for Design in 2022. He also teaches digital fabrication and 3D printing at several universities in Spain.
Javier Bailón
New Building Solutions Manager, KONE Italy and Iberia
Bailón holds a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and brings more than a decade of experience in strategic customer management and technical sales. Throughout his career, he has specialised in products, installations, and technical services across diverse segments—such as Energy, Industry, Offices and Retail—and sectors including Electrical Transformation, Automation and Elevation. He currently serves as New Building Solutions Manager at KONE, one of the global leaders in vertical transportation. At KONE, Bailón leads the Iberian sales team, advancing the company’s mission: to improve People Flow within and between buildings, and to making cities better places to live.

An Evening of Celebration and Shared Success
On Friday, 28 November 2025, we gathered our members and partners at the Finnish Ambassador’s Residence in Madrid for the Annual Gala 2025 — the highlight of our annual calendar at the Chamber.
The elegant black-tie evening celebrated the achievements that have defined the past year while strengthening the relations within our Finnish–Spanish business network. Guests enjoyed a cocktail-style reception, meaningful conversations, and live music performed by amazing Aada Pietilä and IsaBoCa Trio.
A key moment of the evening was the Annual Awards Ceremony, where we proudly recognized outstanding members and partners whose dedication, innovation, and commitment continue to drive Finnish–Spanish cooperation forward. We awarded Pekka Korhonen as Individual of the year, Marioff as the Company of the year, and ICEYE as the project of the year.
Big congrats to the winners once again. These recognitions were truly well deserved! The Gala was a true reflection of shared success, collaboration, and the strong relationships that unite our community. We thank all who joined us and helped make the evening truly unforgettable.

The Spanish-Finnish Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Google, hosted "Unlock the Power of AI for Your Business" on February 6th, bringing together a diverse and distinguished audience. Attendees represented a wide range of sectors, from quantum computing and chemical industries to software development and consulting, including scientists, executives, entrepreneurs, and students.
The event launched with a compelling discussion on the transformative potential of AI, revealing its power to reshape businesses and drive significant margin improvement. A practical, solutions-oriented panel discussion followed, focusing on how organisations can successfully implement AI. Experts underscored the vital importance of data quality, strong executive ownership of AI initiatives, building data-centric organisational structures, and investing in the development of relevant skills.
The panel also offered valuable insights into the anticipated drop in AI tool costs and the imminent arrival of AI agents. A clear call to action emerged: businesses should strategically focus AI efforts on targeted decisions and tasks to accelerate the evaluation of multiple options and drive more effective decision-making.
Ambassador of Finland Sari Rautio provided a critical policy perspective, sharing updates from Brussels and emphasising the fundamental role of digital automation in economic growth.

More about our speakers
Johanna Jacobsson is a lawyer, entrepreneur, and professor. She runs Lawcrosse, which develops tech-driven solutions to solve complex cross-border legal challenges. Johanna teaches international trade law and EU law at IE University. Johanna holds a Ph.D. from the European University Institute.
Sampsa Samila is a professor of strategic management at IESE. He is particularly focused on how new technologies like AI enable new business models and deliver value, and how organizations can develop the necessary capabilities to do so.
Jonne Heikkinen is CEO, entrepreneur, and computer scientist. He is the chief executive of Sevendos, an IT consulting company. During his time at Fourkind & Thoughtworks his main focus was data & AI and had 100+ AI engagements within the period of 2017-2023. Jonne is heavily focused on AI-augmented expert work, which is a paradigm shift we are going through.
Pablo Carlier is a computer scientist and Head of Data Analytics and AI at Google Iberia. He focuses on data democratization, app development, and infrastructure modernization. He has firsthand experience with the adoption of AI solutions in various industries in the Spanish market. He also has a strong professional background in data center activities.
Christmas Gala Dinner
The Spanish-Finnish Chamber of Commerce held its traditional Christmas Dinner on Thursday, November 21st. This event, the most important and prominent of our organization, was particularly special this year. It was organized by our renewed Chamber in collaboration with the Finnish Embassy. Thank you!
The event was held at the Finnish Embassy Residence, and for the first time ever, the CCHF organized an award ceremony. We want to congratulate the winners of the award ceremony—Lumon, Pemamek, and Sari Rautio—for their well-deserved recognitions.
We were delighted to welcome over 70 elegantly dressed guests. Thank you everyone for making the evening a great success! We look forward to seeing you again next year.

On Tuesday, we attended the European Business Drink event organized by the European Chambers of Commerce in Spain. This was the last edition of 2024, but we will see each other again very soon in 2025!
We would like to thank everyone who participated, and we hope the evening was a success for all.
