A Welcome Reception for the New Ambassador Of Finland in Spain

Meeting of European Chambers of Commerce – Alcobendas 2025
The Finnish-Spanish Chamber of Commerce is pleased to share an exclusive invitation from the Danish-Spanish Chamber of Commerce to a special business encounter hosted by the City of Alcobendas.
On October 14th at 11:00 AM, the Mayor of Alcobendas, Rocío García Alcántara, will welcome representatives of European Chambers of Commerce in Spain to the Alcobendas City Hall for a special event dedicated to international collaboration, innovation, and economic development.
Alcobendas stands out as one of Spain’s most dynamic business hubs, where forward-thinking companies and institutions are shaping the future of enterprise. On June 17, European Business Drink was hosted in Madrid, on the stunning Cornamusa Terrace of the Palacio de Cibeles. The event welcomed over 150 attendees from different European Chambers, with the special presence of Madrid’s Mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, who emphasized the strategic role of the Chambers in driving international cooperation and economic growth in the city.
Antonio Calçada, President of the European Chambers of Commerce 2025, highlighted the long-standing commitment to strengthening business ties and networking across Europe since 2004. The evening offered a unique opportunity to build new relationships in a historic and inspiring setting.

AI Evening with Google - Unlock the power of AI for your business
The Spanish-Finnish Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Google, hosted "Unlock the Power of AI for Your Business" on February 6th, bringing together a diverse and distinguished audience. Attendees represented a wide range of sectors, from quantum computing and chemical industries to software development and consulting, including scientists, executives, entrepreneurs, and students.
The event launched with a compelling discussion on the transformative potential of AI, revealing its power to reshape businesses and drive significant margin improvement. A practical, solutions-oriented panel discussion followed, focusing on how organisations can successfully implement AI. Experts underscored the vital importance of data quality, strong executive ownership of AI initiatives, building data-centric organisational structures, and investing in the development of relevant skills.
The panel also offered valuable insights into the anticipated drop in AI tool costs and the imminent arrival of AI agents. A clear call to action emerged: businesses should strategically focus AI efforts on targeted decisions and tasks to accelerate the evaluation of multiple options and drive more effective decision-making.
Ambassador of Finland Sari Rautio provided a critical policy perspective, sharing updates from Brussels and emphasising the fundamental role of digital automation in economic growth.
The Chamber extends its sincere gratitude to the exceptional panelists Johanna Jacobsson, Sampsa Samila, Jonne Heikkinen, Pablo Carlier and the panel host Eero Korhonen for their engaging 90-minute Q&A session with the audience. We also thank the attendees for their insightful and challenging questions!

More about our speakers
Johanna Jacobsson is a lawyer, entrepreneur, and professor. She runs Lawcrosse, which develops tech-driven solutions to solve complex cross-border legal challenges. Johanna teaches international trade law and EU law at IE University. Johanna holds a Ph.D. from the European University Institute.
Sampsa Samila is a professor of strategic management at IESE. He is particularly focused on how new technologies like AI enable new business models and deliver value, and how organizations can develop the necessary capabilities to do so.
Jonne Heikkinen is CEO, entrepreneur, and computer scientist. He is the chief executive of Sevendos, an IT consulting company. During his time at Fourkind & Thoughtworks his main focus was data & AI and had 100+ AI engagements within the period of 2017-2023. Jonne is heavily focused on AI-augmented expert work, which is a paradigm shift we are going through.
Pablo Carlier is a computer scientist and Head of Data Analytics and AI at Google Iberia. He focuses on data democratization, app development, and infrastructure modernization. He has firsthand experience with the adoption of AI solutions in various industries in the Spanish market. He also has a strong professional background in data center activities.
Christmas Gala Dinner
The Spanish-Finnish Chamber of Commerce held its traditional Christmas Dinner on Thursday, November 21st. This event, the most important and prominent of our organization, was particularly special this year. It was organized by our renewed Chamber in collaboration with the Finnish Embassy. Thank you!
The event was held at the Finnish Embassy Residence, and for the first time ever, the CCHF organized an award ceremony. We want to congratulate the winners of the award ceremony—Lumon, Pemamek, and Sari Rautio—for their well-deserved recognitions.
We were delighted to welcome over 70 elegantly dressed guests. Thank you everyone for making the evening a great success! We look forward to seeing you again next year.

On Tuesday, we attended the European Business Drink event organized by the European Chambers of Commerce in Spain. This was the last edition of 2024, but we will see each other again very soon in 2025!
